Dan Bartlett expressed his happiness at joining Coventry City after his signing was confirmed.

The 18-year-old, who will join the Development Squad, joins the Sky Blues following his release from Southampton earlier in the year.

The midfielder said: “I’m very happy to have joined Coventry City.

“It’s a great club, with a great manager and it’s got good foundations, so I’m just looking forward to the new season now.”

Bartlett spent the back end of the 2018/19 season on trial with the Sky Blues, and did enough during that period to earn himself a contract offer from the club.

“I got released from Southampton at the end of the year. I came in on trial for a couple of months here and then got offered a pro contract and here I am now.”

“I was treated very well (during the trial), the boys were brilliant. I really liked the club and the way they played football.

“They integrated me really well, made me feel welcome and it was really good.”

While regular fans of the Under 23s may have already seen Dan in action during his trial, he’s currently an unknown quantity for the rest of the Sky Blue Army.

“I’m a box to box midfielder,” Bartlett said.

“I think fans can expect hard work. Defensively - tackles, winning the ball back. Going forward, creating goals and scoring goals.”

While it will be his first season the Club, Bartlett’s aim to pull on the Sky Blues shirt is clear.

“My aim is to break into the first-team, try and get a couple of appearances this season. Getting a place in the first-team and holding it down is my main aim.”
