INTERVIEW: Mark Robins looks ahead to the Sky Blues squad's tour to Spain

7 July 2019

Coventry City depart for the Spain tour on Sunday evening and Manager Mark Robins is looking forward to more hard work for the squad.

"We’ve got a 24 man squad going over to Spain," explained the Sky Blues boss.

"I want to still retain some of the young players for the development side of things, and two for each position. I’m trying to give people a chance – we’ve got five from the Academy coming with us as well.

"There will be plenty of hard work, same as normal – nothing different. It’s good to get everyone together, and there’s a chance do some really hard work which will naturally bond the players."

"We’ve got a game against Northampton on Friday and we look forward to that.

"Then they will get a bit of a breather, because we don’t come back until late on Saturday. I was going to train on Saturday but probably not now. We’ll wait and see what the weather is like over there, because if it’s anything like how it has been then it’s going to be pretty hot at times.

"We’ll see how the week unfolds but there is plenty of hard work to do and there will be a lot of work done."

Coventry City face Northampton Town in Spain on Friday 12th July at the Pinatar Arena, with kick-off at 5pm CET (4pm BST.) Fans will be able to attend the game, with admission details tbc. The match will be played on the main pitch at Pinatar - details of the venue here.
