INTERVIEW: Jordy Hiwula Looks Ahead to Scunthorpe Clash

The striker has been in good goal scoring form...

4 January 2019

Sky Blues striker Jordy Hiwula is enjoying life with City at the moment, following two goals in his last three games over the festive period.

Hiwula is level on six goals with Jonson Clarke-Harris as the Sky Blues top scorer this season in all competitions.

Jordy has started the last three games up top with Conor Chaplin, a run which has seen City win all three of those games.

The striker admitted he is feeling confident and is enjoying his football.

He said: “I feel like if I get chances I can score goals and I feel like I’m doing well and the other strikers are as well and we have to continue with that.

“I try to stay calm as much as possible and try and get in the right areas and hopefully if the ball drops to me just try and stick it away.

“I’ve played upfront in the last few games and I feel like I’ve done really well.

“It’s a hard position to play and I feel like I’ve gone in there a done well and hopefully I can keep doing that.

“The aim is to try and get double figures by the end of the season, but I’m just going to take it one step at a time from now until the end of the season.”

Jordy Hiwula will come up against one of his former managers tomorrow afternoon, in the form of Stuart McCall.

Jordy played under McCall during their time at Bradford City, when Hiwula spent a season on loan at Valley Parade, scoring 12 goals.

“Stuart was a really good manager and he helped me a lot when I was at Bradford and I thank him for that.

“It should be an interesting game because he sets his teams up really well and it will be difficult.

“He can set up in different ways and tomorrow we won’t know what he’s going to do but we’re going to go there and just play the way we have been in the last couple of weeks and see where that takes us.”
