INTERVIEW: Hyam On Bouncing Back vs Wimbledon

The defender looking to get back to winning ways...

11 January 2019

Sky Blues defender, Dom Hyam is looking to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Scunthorpe tomorrow afternoon against Wimbledon.

City suffered defeat for the first time in four games last week at Glanford Park and the first time in 2019.

Hyam and his team mates have the chance to get back to winning ways this weekend, as they entertain the Dons at the Ricoh Arena.

Dom is hoping hard work on the training ground will stand the Sky Blues in good stead when they come up against Wally Downes’ side.

He said: “We were disappointed with the result last week.

“We had a good Christmas period with three wins, but we are going to try to get back to winning ways now.

“It was tough one, it could have gone either way, but when it’s in the balance we have got to be tight defensively, so we have got to learn from that, so we are going to work hard and put it right tomorrow.

“We need to try to work very hard on the training pitches to get that level of consistency, stick together and grind out the wins.”

City came up against Wimbledon in the second game of the season and on that day, neither side could break the deadlock as the score ended 0-0.

It was a physical encounter that day, with the powerful presence the Dons had up top, it was a testing game for the City defence.

However, Hyam is hoping that if they Sky Blues focus on themselves and what they need to do then they can pick up a result.

“If the game is in balance, we have got to try and keep things tight defensively, so that the flair players can do their job as well. So, hopefully we can keep it nice and tight tomorrow.

“I remember it was a tough game, we kept a clean sheet, they were quite physical. So, we’ll have to see tomorrow how they play but I am expecting a physical encounter, that’s how it is in this league.

“I think we don’t specifically set ourselves any specific goals, we take each game as it comes. “We obviously try to win it and see where it takes us but like I said in the previous interviews we want be there and thereabouts to try and make it interesting.

“We will start again against Wimbledon tomorrow and hopefully we can get the result.”
