INTERVIEW: Amadou Bakayoko Talks Walsall Goal and Win

The striker set City on course for three points...

Sky Blues striker Amadou Bakayoko notched his fourth goal of the season when he opened the scoring against Walsall at the Ricoh Arena.

The forward joined City from Walsall in the summer and put the Sky Blues on their way to a comfortable 3-0 win.

The former Saddler was left pleased with the result but believes that City probably should have won by more.

He said: “I think the whole team enjoyed that, we worked really hard this week on the back of last week’s win, and we done the job today.

“We have been training so well this week and we needed to be on our game, and we made sure we were.

“We still should have scored a lot more, we all had a lot of chances, but its definitely good that we all got on the score sheet and we need to go again.”

Bakayoko headed past Liam Roberts in the 29th minute to give City the lead, following a wonderful cross from right back Dujon Sterling.

“We’ve been working on that.” He said.

“It’s a great ball in and I just needed to make sure that I got a good contact on it, but it was a great ball from Dujon.

“I just want as many goals as possible to help out the team and that is my main focus at the moment to make sure that we get three points.

“I think I had a point to prove to Coventry fans and let them see that I can play, and I am capable of being that main target man, but my main focus is doing the best for the team.

“It clicks at times and with Conor coming on as well its dangerous, we have so much threat going forward so it’s good for us.

“I think we have always had a good structure in the way we play, every now and then it might not work, but I think we just have to keep going and keep believing that we can do it and push on from there.
