OFFICIALS: Referee confirmed for New Year's Day clash at Tranmere

31 December 2019

Will Finnie has been confirmed as the referee for Coventry City's New Year's Day trip to Tranmere Rovers in SkyBet League One.

Finnie refereed the SkyBet League Two clash between Cambridge United and Morecambe, the home side winning 1-0 and the only card of the game being a yellow one, handed to Morecambe's Alex Kenyon.

He last took charge of the Sky Blues in the Leasing.com Trophy, when Walsall were the opposition at St Andrew's. Four yellow cards were handed out, with two each - Tennai Watson and Will Bapaga the City name to enter Finnie's book.

In total this campaign Finnie has taken charge of 21 games, handing out 79 yellow cards and 2 reds.

He has refereed 4 of those games in League One this season, with this campaign being his first in the EFL having been promoted from the National League.

Joe Simpson and Peter Gooch will be the assistants for the match at Prenton Park, while the fourth official is due to be Lewis Smith.
