TEAM NEWS: Matty Godden Makes First Sky Blues Start

The striker comes in for his full debut...

13 August 2019

Coventry City manager Mark Robins has opted for four changes for tonight’s game against Exeter City in the Carabao Cup First Round.

Ben Wilson, Dom Hyam, Sam McCallum and Matt Godden come into the side who played out a goalless draw at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday. Marko Marosi, Kyle McFadzean, Brandon Mason and Amadou Bakayoko are the four who sit out tonight, with all four taking a place on the bench.

Goalkeeper Wilson will be making his competitive debut for the Sky Blues between the sticks. In front of him, Fantaky Dabo, Michael Rose, Dom Hyam and Sam McCallum are tasked with keeping out the Exeter attack.

Robins has opted for the same midfield three that has played in both competitive fixtures so far this season; Liam Kelly as captain, Zain Westbrooke and Jordan Shipley.

Making up the eleven, Jordy Hiwula and Wesley Jobello are favoured on the flanks with Matt Godden making his first Sky Blues start through the middle. The former Peterborough man, who bagged 18 goals in all competitions last season, will be hoping to open his account for City tonight.

New signing Gervane Kastaneer also makes the bench after recovering from injury. He will be hoping to make his first appearance since signing for the Sky Blues this summer.

Sky Blues XI: Wilson; Dabo, Rose, Hyam, McCallum; Kelly, Shipley, Westbrooke; Jobello, Hiwula, Godden

Subs: Marosi, McFazdean, Mason, Eccles, Bapaga, Kastaneer, Bakayoko
