COMMUNITY: SBitC supporting diversity among FA Level 1 qualified coaches

8 August 2019

Sky Blues in the Community have offered local football coaches in Coventry the chance to take their first step on to the FA’s coaching ladder, supporting Birmingham FA with diversity among FA Level 1 qualified coaches.

Additional funding from Sport England and in-house by Sky Blues in the Community enabled the bespoke FA Level 1 Football Coaching course to be subsidised to 13 aspiring coaches who were of the Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority Backgrounds.

The course provided an introduction to coaching the game and working with players form U7’s to adult age groups. All 13 participants passed the course and have now become qualified football coaches who will be putting their qualification in to practice across local grass roots clubs in Coventry.

Football Development Manager Chloe Groves said “It’s great to be offering the FA Level 1 Coaching qualification fully subsidised. We are delighted to have supported this, ensuring there is diversity among coaches in Coventry and providing an opportunity for people who may not have been able to afford the course themselves.”
