NEWS: Sky Blues squad tests skills on visit to Escape Live Coventry

5 April 2019

Coventry City stars’ problem-solving skills were put to the test as players saved the world, burgled a casino and broke out of prison in the space of sixty minutes ahead of this weekend’s clash with Bristol Rovers.

The Sky Blues’ first team squad visited Escape Live Coventry, which is situated at Fargo Village, to crack codes and uncover clues as part of their preparations for Saturday’s crunch League One match.

The play-off chasing squad were split into three teams to tackle three of the venue’s toughest escape challenges – including Casino Heist, Prison Break and Armageddon.

Sky Blues players embarked on a crucial mission to prevent the destruction of the planet in Armageddon – the newest escape experience at the Coventry venue.

First team stars Dom Hyam, Dujon Sterling, Jordy Hiwula, Amadou Bakayoko and Liam O’Brien joined forces in Prison Break.

The five-man team’s challenge came right down to the wire, but they were able to make their last-gasp escape with 5 seconds remaining.

Fan favourites Jodi Jones and Tom Bayliss joined forces with Max Biamou, Brandon Mason, Lee Burge and Jordan Willis to tackle Casino Heist.

The team escaped with 27 seconds left on the one-hour clock and Jones praised striker Biamou as their star man.

Jones said: “We took on the casino room and really enjoyed it. It was quite tough, we managed to escape but unfortunately didn’t get all the money we wanted in the heist.

“Max Biamou, Jordan Willis, Lee Burge, Brandon Mason Tom Bayliss were in my team, but I think Max was the best. The French boy was quite good to be fair!

“I definitely want to come back soon and try the other ones. It’s a change of scenery and great for team spirit.”

His teammate Bayliss added: “It was a good day out. Everyone really enjoyed it and got our brains working off the pitch.

“It was a team collective, you really do have to work together in there.

“I think we picked the right team and will definitely be back again, the lads wanted to try another room straight away as soon as we finished.”

Alex Sandham from Escape Live Coventry, said: “We split the squad into three groups and they all performed exceptionally well.

“We host a lot of businesses and sports clubs at our venue and we regularly receive positive feedback praising the teambuilding benefits of the experience.

“This is the third occasion we have hosted the Coventry City team at Escape Live, twice in Coventry and once at our Birmingham venue, and we look forward to welcoming them again soon.”
