Take a look at some of the players to have represented both...

21 April 2019

As the Sky Blues get set to take on Portsmouth tomorrow, we take a look some of the players to have played for both sides.

Marc McNulty

McNulty started his career in 2009 at Livingston, before making his move to England in 2014 at the age of 21 when joining Sheffield United.

McNulty was sent on loan a year later, in which his first spell would come at Portsmouth. The initial loan was on a short-term spell, but after scoring a hat trick in a 6-0 win over York City, adding to the total of six goals in eleven appearances, the loan was extended to the end of the season.

After a further loan spell at Bradford, McNulty made the permanent move to the Sky Blues in 2017. His first goal would come on his second appearance for the club against Grimsby Town.

After short spell without a goal, they soon started to fly in and his 100th career goal would come in the first leg of the play off semi-final against Notts County.

23 goals in 42 appearances helped the Sky Blues regain promotion to League One and after an impressive season, it saw McNulty move away from Coventry to Reading.

Conor Chaplin

Chaplin joined Portsmouth in 2003 as youth player and he would spend the next eleven years working his way up the ranking to make his debut for Portsmouth in December 2014.

His first career goals came a few months later when he would score the only goal for Pompey in their 3-1 defeat against Morecambe.

After making 104 appearances in four years as a professional at Portsmouth, Chaplin’s moved to the Sky Blues came in the summer of 2018, this initial transfer was on a loan deal, but would be made permanent in January 2019.

Chaplin currently has 8 goals in 27 appearances for Coventry.

Tom Davies

The Manchester born centre back started his professional career in 2013 with Northern Premier League side FC United of Manchester, before moving to Fleetwood Town. After being loaned back to FC United of Manchester, Alfreton Town, Lincoln City and Southport.

Davies moved to Accrington Stanley after not making an appearance for Fleetwood Town. After a year at Accrington Stanley and making 32 appearances, Davies moved on to Portsmouth, where he spend the 2016/17 season making 12 appearances in a Pompey shirt.

This would then lead to a move to Coventry in 2017 on a two-year deal, which he has currently made 41 appearances for the Sky Blues.
