Ten months ago today, marks the game in which Jodi Jones suffered an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament, which has kept him side lined since.
The winger has been on the long road to recovery and has begun training with the Coventry City first team, after his setback he suffered playing for the Under-23s a few weeks ago.
However, Jodi still has time to go until he is back in a Sky Blue shirt, as Mark Robins insisted that he won’t be putting a date on Jones’ return.
“He’s training this week, but I won’t put a date on it, I think he has to get himself up to speed.” Robins said.
“When you’ve been out a long time, you’re looking at last November, coming up to a year and we were in a league below but we’ve moved on now and new players have come in and we’re playing at a different level.
“All those things add up to trying to hit the levels you have to hit to get into the first team, but when you’ve been injured like that first thing you have to dis get over the psychological barriers if there are any and get up to the levels of fitness and movement.
“I know he has got speed, pace, skill and trickery and all those things but then fitting into what we’re doing at the moment will take time.
“I won’t put him under any pressure and put a date on it so that will remain the case, he has to go at his own speed.”
Elsewhere in the City side, there was an update on the injury which right-back Jack Grimmer sustained against Oxford United almost two weeks ago.
The defender has been out since then and Robins is expecting a couple more weeks until we see Jack back in contention.
“Jack suffered a grade two tear of his soleus so generally the rule book is 4-6 weeks and like I said in my post-match the other week, I guarantee it will be around that time frame.”
