Sky Blues defender Jordan Willis is expecting a big test from Barnsley this weekend, but is confident of a positive result.
Mark Robins side entertain The Tykes at the Ricoh Arena in League One action, as they look to secure back to back wins for the first time this season.
Following the victory against Oxford United last weekend, Willis admitted it was massive to get it under their belts heading into the clash against Barnsley.
He said: “We had gone six games in and had only one win, so to get that second win under our belts was massive.
“Barnsley have got some decent players and they are obviously unbeaten in the league at the minute.
“It will be a good test, but we are looking forward to it and hopefully come away with a good result.
“We want to keep pushing on and get even higher up the table. So that is our goal and that’s what we are aiming for, so will be happy when we are higher up.”
Following an injury which kept him out for a majority of pre-season, Jordan has been battling to regain full fitness.
The defender has completed ninety minutes on several occasion now this season and is feeling better in himself for get the minutes under his belt.
He said: “Since my injury in pre-season I’ve been ok and managed to get through the 90 minutes quite comfortably without a full pre-season in me, so that is quite pleasing. Hopefully I just keep pushing on now.
“I felt like I might not have made it through all the games in the first few weeks, but luckily, I’ve been alright.”
Following promotion at the end of last season, the Sky Blues have returned to League One, after an absence of just one season.
Willis admitted that there is an improvement in terms of opponents, but he is confident that City will be able to continue to push on.
“The difference is there definitely in the level of play, but it’s not too much, so hopefully we can deal with that and push on for the rest of the season and get ourselves up the table.”
