INTERVIEW: Conor Chaplin Looks Back On Rochdale Defeat

The striker made his debut against Rochdale...

New Sky Blues signing Connor Chaplin said there were positives to take, despite defeat against Rochdale.

The Sky Blues created a host of chances, but were unable to convert and striker Chaplin believed it shows good signs for City.

“I thought we were excellent first-half, but obviously I know what this league’s like if you don’t put your chances away." He said.

“There are plenty of positives to take from that first-half.

“There was chance after chance, I don’t know how many statistically but from the bench there was only one team that was going to score and that was us.”

Chaplin watched on from the substitutes bench for the first-half and was brought into the action by Mark Robins in the 56th minute.

‘It was good to come on and make my debut but it would’ve been much better if it was in better circumstances and we had gotten the win.

“The game was tough for me to get into because Rochdale got that goal early on so they knew what they had to hold onto.

“If we can start playing like we did in the first-half in the second-half we are going to be hard to stop in this league.”

Lastly, the new number ten commented on his fitness with little match action so far this season.

“I feel fit and like any professional when you get your chance you need to perform, so I always make sure I’m ready when called upon.”
