COMMUNITY: SBitC host ‘Girls Night Out’ and launch new beginners running courses this month!

10 September 2018

Sky Blues in the Community are hosting a ‘Girls Night Out’ and will launch new beginners running courses this September!

In It Together is a Sport England funded programme, supported by the Public Health team in Coventry. Aimed at providing opportunities for Women and Girls to participate in Sport and Physical Activity.

It works across the community in the day time and evenings, and In It Together also run a 10 week programme for teenage girls in secondary schools, as well as promote and deliver community events. Since its launch in 2016, In It Together has engaged over 5000 women in weekly sessions and one-off events, supporting local women to get active.

As In It Together are coming to the end of their 3 year funded project, they want to celebrate the programme, and get together for a night of fun.

Sky Blues in the Community are hosting a ‘Girls Night Out’ in partnership with Coventry Sports Foundation, an evening full of fun and laughter. The event will take place at Centre AT7 on Friday 21st September 2018. £10 entry including a FREE T-Shirt. This event is open for all women to take part in, so get the girls together and sign up now!

As well as the upcoming Girls Night Out, they are also launching two new beginners running courses this Autumn, one at War Memorial Park, and one at Longford Park.

In It Together has already successfully delivered 9 running courses, engaging with over 1000 women.

The course costs just £20 for the 8 weeks, including a FREE ‘In It Together’ T-Shirt. The beginners running course will follow Public Health England’s Couch to 5K programme, with the addition of a Park Run at the end of the course, to celebrate the achievement and a chance for the women to run their first 5K at a public event.

  • War Memorial Park – Starts Monday 24th September at 7:15pm
  • Longford Park – Starts Thursday 27th September at 6:30pm

Health Officer, Leandra Whelband said ‘‘We are looking forward to our Girls Night Out, it will be a chance to celebrate the success of our programme, but also an opportunity for the women to get together, get a taster for new activities, and enjoy themselves. We are also looking forward to our new beginners courses this September. To see even more women get active together, and make some positive lifestyle changes is just inspirational.’’
