COMMUNITY: Player Development Centre Satellite Centres Launching in Kenilworth!

24 September 2018

Sky Blues in the Communty are launching new Player Development Centre Satellite Centres in Kenilworth!

Taster sessions are taking place for the Player Development Centres ahead of the new centres opening in Kenilworth, taking place in October.

The Sky Blues Player Development Centres (PDCs) offer advanced football coaching with a technical and tactical focus for children aged 5-12 regardless of ability and experience. We are looking to expand our Development Centres and offer our services in Warwickshire.

The overriding mission statement for SBitC Player Development Centres is: ‘To provide high quality coaching and a positive coaching environment to support players in reaching their potential’.

A player pathway is in place where players can move up or down – making sure players are training and playing in a group which is both challenging but also gives them the opportunity to experience success.

PDC training adopts the England DNA Training Principles and player progression is assessed by coaches on an on-going basis. A holistic approach is taken by coaches using the The FA ‘Four Corner Model’ for Player Development. The model focuses on key characteristics that are vital in developing any young footballer or sports person.

The development pathway for each individual is unique and diverse, and the needs of each player will ebb and flow in all of the four corners. For some players the need for added support will be minimal, whilst others may require more applied and specific support.

We don’t promise that PDC players will become professional footballers, but we do guarantee a high-quality coaching environment that supports young players to reach their own potential. Over 600 players are currently involved in the PDCs and since it was set up in 2010, over 400 players have had trials with professional football club academies. In addition to this, 97 players have signed professional contracts with academies.

Sky Blues in the Community (SBitC) is a registered charity and the official community arm to Coventry City Football Club. As a registered charity, SBitC have to ensure all costs involved in running the Player Development Centres are covered so there is a charge involved for the training and trials.

Taster Sessions Information & Dates:

The taster sessions will be delivered in local primary schools during PE lessons, after school clubs and lunch time clubs all FREE of charge. We will then be holding a trial day on the 30th October at Kenilworth School for all anyone who requires more information or initial player feedback.
