The Sky Blues travel to Roots Hall this weekend in Sky Bet League One action, as they look to continue their recent run of form.
City head into the game on the back of two consecutive wins in the league, following a 2-1 win away at Charlton Athletic and a 1-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers.
United also head into the game on the back of a five game unbeaten run and Mark Robins is looking forward to taking on Southend.
He said: “They are doing really well, they have had a change of shape and we will have got to be on our game and be focused and concentrated and go and play our game as well.
“We have got our own threats and we have to look at that, we know what they have been doing and we’ll look to try and make it as difficult as possible for them.”
“It is always a difficult place to go to, tight pitch tight ground, good atmosphere, we’d be taking a few supporters as usual and we are looking forward to it.
“We have got two away games coming up and it would be nice to be able to pick up certainly maximum points from that but picking up points from away game is always good so, two tough trips and like I said the focus would obviously be on the first one at Southend
“The results have been pretty good against the top teams, the teams that are the top of the league at the moment and obviously last week against Wycombe was a really good win for us because that was the first time we played a team that got promoted.”
Following back to back wins in the league, the Sky Blues have been upbeat in training heading into the weekend’s trip down South.
Robins said the mood is similar to other weeks, as the mentality doesn’t change as they head into each game determined.
He said. “They have been good, but in fairness when they have lost they have been determined, they have shown their determination and that’s important.
“Also what’s important is that we maintain the way that we have been going about our business.
“You want them to be brave, you want them to believe in what they are capable of doing”.
