Sky Blues defender, Junior Brown is enjoying life with Coventry City, following his summer move from Shrewsbury Town.
The fullback joined the club after his contract ended with The Shrews and has became a regular feature in the City eleven in recent weeks.
Junior spent the majority of last season out with a cruciate ligament injury and he was continuing that recovery come the end of last season.
Having been out of the game for months, Junior admitted it was a struggle at times, but he his happy to be back out getting minutes under his belt.
“It’s taken a little period to adjust to the new surroundings and to get to know the lads and staff.
“I’ve settled in now and it’s been a tough few months physically and mentally after coming back from such a long period out.
“I’m enjoying it, getting some game minutes under my belt and start to get back to where I know, and I can be and want to be. It is all building the right direction.
“It’s a struggle mentally when you’ve been out for so long, it’s frustrating and you are not quite there when you come back physically as well.
“You just have to try and hit it as hard as you can and take the rough with the smooth and it’s a process that you have to grind your way through.
“When you come out the other side and put it to the back of your mind you start to see the benefits and get that smile back on your face and enjoying yourself again.”
The last two outings have seen the Sky Blues pick up maximum points against Charlton Athletic and Wycombe Wanderers in League One action.
This weekend, Mark Robins’ side make the trip down south to take on Southend United, who have also been in good form recently.
Junior is hoping things are starting to click now for him and his team mates, as they take on Chris Powell’s side.
“There’s been a fair few changes since last season, so it was always going to be a process of bedding in and getting used to the style of play with each other, but you see it in the results and the way we are playing especially against the better sides.
“We are certainly a very good side in the making and it is going to be season where we have our ups and downs, but I think it will stand us in good stead.
“I’ve played against Southend a few times over my career and it is a difficult place to go.
“They are in a good vein of form at the minute so it will be a tough ask, but for us we go there, try and enforce are style of play on them, show them what we are about and I can’t see why we can’t come away with three points.”
