The Sky Blues were victorious in their away trip to Charlton yesterday afternoon thanks to a late double from substitute Amadou Bakayoko.
City’s summer signing was introduced into the action at a goal down but helped his team surge to a dramatic late 2-1 win.
Bakayoko added some real intensity into the fixture and commented post-match on his impactful appearance.
“I just needed to anticipate for the goals.
“I’ve been working a lot with the gaffer and Adi [Viveash] on being aware of taking up space, and I was in the right place today.
“I felt that I had nothing to lose when I came on.
“In the end, it showed our character to come back from behind.
“But, we can’t get too excited now, we’ve got to keep doing it again and again.”
The Sky Blues have been involved in some tight fixtures over the past game-weeks and Bakayoko believes that the team just need to remain patient.
“We work on it in training about just being patient as a team, especially amongst the strike force.
“We just need to be patient and keep doing the right things that the gaffer wants and I’m sure it’ll come like it did today.
“It was a tough game from the start, but it always looked like we were still in the game.
“We worked hard and kept going, and we got the win.
“We have a lot of quality in the ranks."
Since signing in the summer, the 22-year-old has not featured prominently for the Sky Blues but he doesn’t believe this has majorly affected him.
“I’m not the kind of person to be too worried.
“I have belief in the gaffer and the squad.
“It’s about just being patient and like what I did today come off the bench and make a massive impact.
“Whatever happens we go up together as a team and go down together as a team.”
