We are pleased to confirm that Jonny Ngandu has today signed his first professional contract with Coventry City.

The 17 year-old, who has risen through the ranks with the Sky Blues, has put pen to paper on a two and a half year deal until June 2021.

Ngandu, who turned 17 last week, has been with the club since he was seven years-old and has regularly played at levels higher than his age group.

Jonny is a regular with Jason Farndon’s Under-23s side and has also featured amongst the substitutes in City’s Checkatrade Trophy fixtures against Arsenal U21s and Forest Green Rovers.

Upon the signing of his deal, Sky Blues U23s coach, Jason Farndon had this to say:

“We are delighted that Jonny has signed with the club and have been able to keep hold of an exciting talent.

“He is a local lad that has been with us since he was seven and he has consistently played above his age group throughout his time in the Academy.

“Jonny has been based with us full time at the Lodge and we look forward to continuing to work with him and helping his development.”

Sky Blues Academy Manager, Richard Stevens said:

“We are all delighted for Jonny and it is just rewards for all of the hard work and efforts he has put in as well as his family.

“He has always shown the talent he has and during his time with us he has been tested with medical setbacks, but he has come through it all.

“Jonny is now in the right place for him to continue his development as a footballer and we are just delighted he has signed his first professional contract.”
