COMMUNITY: Jimmy Hill Legacy Fund Supports the Family Zone to Provide Activities on Matchdays

6 November 2018

The Jimmy Hill Legacy Fund has generously donated funds to support another local organisation who positively impacts our community.

This donation is slightly closer to home than previous donations, which have helped Castle Wood School, Coventry Sphinx Under 15s and Bulkington Cricket Club among others.

The Jimmy Hill Legacy Fund received an application from the CCFC Family Zone asking for a donation of two television screens and additional PlayStation equipment.

Previously, they had one TV and console which gets very over crowded on matchday due to its popularity! They are now able to cater for the amount of young people who attend the Family Zone and continue to engage the masses of fans who get involved with pre-match day activities.

Pat Raybould, Volunteer for CCFC Family Zone said: “The Family Zone tries very hard to enhance the match day experience for our young fans.  Part of the process is to ask the youngsters what we can do to improve their enjoyment.  I can say, without hesitation, that 99% of the replies we get say TVs for more games.

"With this in mind, we approached the JHLF and it is our pleasure to be able to unveil our new TV’s and games.  On behalf of all of the children, families and the Volunteer Team thank you so much.”

David Busst, Head of Community and Jimmy Hill Legacy Fund Trustee said: “When we received the application from the Family Zone, it was an obvious and straight forward decision for us to make. The Family Zone display all the values that Jimmy Hill held very highly and for this reason we accepted the application immediately.

"It is very important for us to continue to engage the younger generation in supporting their local Football Club and the Family Zone does just that! Giving the young people an experience greater than just football inspires them to regularly attend home matches and become attached to, not only football, but the club as a whole. Thanks to the Family Zone this is all possible.”

Keep an eye-out for future fundraising events for the Jimmy Hill Legacy Fund. The Fund relies on fundraising, sponsorship and partnerships to make this possible and with all the recent donations given to the community, they are now in the process of restoring the fund for future applications.
