The Sky Blues have secured their place in the SkyBet League Two play-off places after a goalless draw with Morecambe at the Ricoh.

Shrimpers' 'keeper Barry Roche's heroics twice denied Robins' side from taking the lead with a pair of exceptional reflex saves.

City will now face Notts County in the first of a two-legged play-off semi final next Saturday.

The Sky Blues were onto Morecambe from the get-go. Captain Michael Doyle has only scored twice this season and made sure that Barry Roche was wide awake when he tested the 36-year-old's acrobatics from range, tipping his shot over the bar.

On the half-hour mark, it looked certain that the visitors were going to take the lead. Gregg Wylde's cross was heading straight towards the head of Aaron Wildig at the far post, who had an empty goal to aim at, but Tom Davies managed to heroically hook the ball away.

Jonson Clarke-Harris was brought in to replace the ill Max Biamou and denied the chance to put his side one up by yet another world-class close-range save by Roche. Clarke-Harris took one touch to set himself before unleashing a volley towards goal from the penalty spot, only to see Roche claw the ball off the line to his right.

A goal for Barnet in North London now meant that Jim Bentley's side needed nothing short of a point to ensure their Football League status, and the second half started with the Shrimpers on top. Kevin Ellison has been finding the net for the reds since 2011 but could only find the side netting from close range, part thanks to a strong save from Lee Burge.

Tom Bayliss was continuing to punish Morecambe with his direct runs from midfield and had Jim Bentley's heart in his mouth with fifteen minutes to go when the teenager skipped a number of challenges before forcing yet another strong save from Roche. On another day it could have been three, but the veteran 'keeper was keeping his side in the Football League.

The Sky Blues will not face Notts County in the first of a two-legged play-off semi-final.

Play up Sky Blues!
