NEWS: Coventry City thanks everyone involved in the Bus Parade and Civic Reception

31 May 2018

Coventry City Football Club would like to thank everyone involved in the incredible open top bus parade and Civic Reception following the Sky Blues’ promotion to League One.

Firstly, the supporters and everyone who lined the route – whether they were in their windows, gardens or driveways, or gathered on roads, at pubs or in public squares. The reception that you gave to the promotion winning squad and staff was fantastic.

We would like to thank His Worship Lord Mayor Blundell for bestowing the honour of a Civic Reception upon Coventry City Football Club, and giving us the opportunity to celebrate and commemorate the achievement in such a way. We are truly grateful for the reception at St Mary’s Guildhall and the hospitality provided to us by everyone in attendance.

We would like to thank Coventry City Council for their hard-work and co-operation in putting on this truly memorable occasion in such a short period of time, including staff in the Lord Mayor’s office, events team, catering, traffic and highways departments.

Our sincere thanks also go to EST UK, in particular Brian Kavanagh and Sarah-Jane Evans, for their work on traffic management and arrangements for the bus parade, and Moseley Signs for providing signage for the open-top bus.

We would also like to thank Warwickshire Police and West Midlands Police for their co-operation and support too.

Finally, we would like to pay tribute to the Platt-May family again. It was decided that the bus route would stop to visit the memorial to Corey and Casper on Longfellow Road, and it was touching moment to see the memorial and those people affected by the tragedy and to hold a minute’s applause.
