Coventry City Football Club can confirm it has agreed for the highly successful Academy to remain at the Alan Higgs Centre for a further five years.

After discussions between the Coventry City Chief Executive Dave Boddy, Academy Manager Richard Stevens and the CEO of Coventry Sports Foundation Paul Breed, an extension has been agreed to secure the Academy's stay at the Alan Higgs Centre until May 2023.

The Category 2 Academy continues to go from strength to strength at all age groups and provide many first team players for the Sky Blues, and has been based at the Alan Higgs Centre for over 10 years.

The next few months will be a busy period at the Alan Higgs Centre, as work begins on the construction of a new indoor 3G football pitch, the resurfacing of the 3G outdoor pitch and the refurbishment of the grass pitches, as well as the construction of a new 50 metre swimming pool.

Dave Boddy, Coventry City Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to have agreed the extension for the Academy at the Alan Higgs Centre. This is great news and another really positive step forward for the future of the club, the academy, staff and the players and their families who are in the academy now and in the coming years.

“The development of facilities at the Centre during the summer will bring us in line with Category Two status and further enhance our ability to develop young players”

Academy Manager Richard Stevens said: “This is excellent news for us and everyone associated with Coventry City.

“I am delighted to have agreed this deal and for the Academy to have a guaranteed home at the Alan Higgs Centre until at least 2023. I would like thank Paul for all his help and support, and also the parents, players and staff for their patience while we concluded this long-term deal.

“We can now plan for future with confidence and look forward to the Academy improving even further with the security that this five-year deal brings to us.”

Paul Breed, Chief Executive of Coventry Sports Foundation commented: “We are delighted to extend the agreement and our relationship with the Coventry City’s highly successful Football Academy until 2023.

“Coventry Sports Foundation has committed a significant investment in the Alan Higgs Centre this year to enhance the facilities for the Academy.

“We look forward to seeing the Sky Blues Academy at the Alan Higgs Centre continue to be a great asset for the city, the club and its future.”
