INTERVIEW: Rod McDonald Looks Ahead To Crewe Clash

The Sky Blues visit Gresty Road this weekend...

This weekend, the Sky Blues make the trip to Gresty Road to take on Crewe Alexandra in League Two action.

City come into the game on the back of a four-game unbeaten run, which has seen them climb back into the play-off places, currently sitting in seventh position.

Now, with just ten games left in the league, Mark Robins side are looking to push on and firstly cement their place in the top seven and Sky Blues defender, Rod McDonald is looking forward to the final run in.

He said:” I’m just excited to play in the last ten games.

“I’m enjoying my games at the moment, but I’m taking each game as it comes from now until the end of the season.

“Obviously I’m thinking of play-offs and promotion come the end of the season, but that’s at the end and now we’re just looking ahead to the next game against Crewe.

“We did well against Barnet and before the Mansfield game we had struggled a bit, but we’ve picked form back up at the moment and as I say we just need to take each game as it comes, and I think the team is really together.”

Currently, Rod is occupying the two centre back positions alongside team mate Dominic Hyam, who has started the last three games in the league.

Other defenders, Tom Davies, Jordan Willis and Jordon Thompson all currently have injuries, which means numbers are light in that department.

However, the 25 year-old is confident of keeping more clean sheets from now until the end of the season.

He added: “I just want to keep earning more clean sheets and make our defensive record better.

“We still have ten games left so I want to get as many clean sheets as I can from now until the end of the season.

“It is different playing alongside Dom compared to Jordan, because they both have different talents, as Dom is really good at reading the game and Jordan has blistering pace which can help him, but I’ve slotted in well with both.

“I think Dom is carrying an injury at the moment if you look at his face.

“But its just how it is at the moment, that’s the point of having four good centre backs in the side, you could pick any out of the four of us when were all fit, so it’s all good.”
