Sky Blues in the Community are holding Basketball Trials for Under 13, Under 15 & Under 17 Boys, as part of the Premier League Kicks Project.
Premier League Kicks is national flagship community programme which uses the power of football and sport to inspire young people in some of the most high-need areas in England and Wales.
In Coventry, thanks to funding from the Premier League Charitable Fund, Sky Blues in the Community provide activities for 8-19 years olds in priority areas of Coventry.
Supported by further funding from CSW Sport & Moat House Community Trust, there is an opportunity for local young people to get involved in Basketball Teams representing the Sky Blues in the Youth Basketball League (YBL).
For 2018-19, the Sky Blues are looking for players who can help build on their debut season (last year) in the YBL by defending the U17 League Title and pushing for the Championships Finals in both the U15 & U17 age groups.
Development is an aim for the Basketball Teams going forwards so in addition to the U15 and U17 Teams, the Sky Blues are also looking for young players who are in the Under 13 age group (School Years 6, 7 & 8 from September 2018) to improve as Basketball players.
This development set up will involve training each week and playing friendly fixtures against other local Basketball teams; eventually representing SBitC at a competitive level.
The ‘Coventry Sky Blues’ pride themselves on being an affordable, accessible and hardworking Basketball Club in Coventry. Successful trialists will receive high-quality coaching from Sky Blues in the Community’s Basketball England Qualified Coaches, as well as an excellent support network for parents and players.
New players will be welcomed into a club that places a high emphasis on developing players both on and off the court.
