REPORT: Coventry City 3-1 Swindon Town - Biamou and McNulty fire City to victory

Max Biamou scores his first league goal for the Sky Blues...

20 January 2018

The Sky Blues have beaten Swindon Town 3-1 at the Ricoh Arena thanks to a stunner from Max Biamou and a brace from Marc McNulty.

Mark Robins' side were two up after twenty-five minutes. Biamou, who was hunting his first goal of the season, blasted City ahead from range before McNulty won and converted a penalty five minutes later.

Oliver Banks pulled one back for Swindon before the break, but McNulty secured the win with ten minutes to go to secure a vital win in SkyBet League Two.

The Ricoh Arena stood on the ninth minute for a minutes applause to remember the great Cyrille Regis. Regis made 238 appearances for the Sky Blues, helping them to lift the FA Cup in 1987, and passed away earlier in the week, aged 59.

Moments after fans had retaken their seats, they were given a reason to celebrate. Biamou has struggled infront of goal this season but nobody would have guessed when he thumped the ball home on the half-volley from 25-yards with confidence. City were ahead and finally the Frenchman had a League goal.

Five minutes later the Sky Blues had a golden chance to double their led from the spot after McNulty was pulled down in the area. The 25-year-old stepped up to fire City two ahead after just 25 minutes.

Before the break the Robins has pulled a goal back. Ellis Iandolo did well down to left to break free to the byline before playing a low call across the area for Banks to force home.

The first action of the second half saw one of the greatest goal-mouth scrambles the crowd had ever seen. A Swindon corner was headed into the danger zone before allmost everybody in red took a swing at goal, forcing two saves from Burge and rattling the crossbar. The away support could not beliee that they had not found the back of the net.

The Sky Blues put the game well beyond Swindon with ten minutes to go. The visitors tried to play it out from the back but after pressure from Chris Stokes and Michael Doyle they surrendered possesion to McNulty, who took one touch and fired the ball past Reice Charles-Cook and into the far corner. The game's winning goal.
