INTERVIEW: Jordan Willis Looks Back At FA Cup Win Against Stoke

8 January 2018

Tonight, the Sky Blues will await the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round Draw, after knocking out Stoke City at the Ricoh Arena this past weekend.

Mark Robins side beat the Potters 2-1 in the Third Round of the competition, thanks to goals from Jordan Willis and Jack Grimmer on Saturday afternoon.

Willis opened the scoring in the game in the first half, after he headed past Jack Butland to make it the perfect start for City.

The defender was delighted with the win and goal against Stoke, as he joked the defence needed to start shipping in with some goals to avoid a fine.

He joked: “Yesterday on the training field Adi said he is going to start fining players if the back four don’t start chipping in with a few goals so I have avoided that.”

“It was a good corner from Jordan Maguire-Drew to the back stick where Tom Davies headed it back across and luckily it hit me on the head and went in.

"Jack Grimmer scored as well and Tom provided an assist, so I reckon he’ll get away without a fine as well, so it’s just Stokesy who didn’t manage to make it into the box.”

“It was a brilliant day and what a result against a Premier League team. I couldn’t be happier. Everyone has worked their socks off and put their bodies on the line with the amount of blocks was brilliant and deservedly got the win.

“There was some heroic defending at times and I think the whole team takes credit for that.”

The draw for the Fourth Round takes place before the Brighton & Hove Albion vs Crystal Palace game tonight, with coverage of the build-up to the draw being held at the Ricoh Arena.

When asked who they wanted in the next round of the draw, Mark Robins, Jack Grimmer and Jordan Willis all had the same answer.

“I’d like United away,” Willis said.

“It would mean a lot to the club to get a high profile team like that and hopefully, you never know, we can get the same result.”
