INTERVIEW: Tom Bayliss Talks Luton And Jodi Jones

The Sky Blues return to League One action...

14 December 2018

The Sky Blues return to the Ricoh Arena, for the first game of festive period as they come-up against Luton Town.

The Hatters head into the game second in the table, the position they finished last season in League Two, when they joined City in promotion to League One.

After a difficult run in recent weeks, the Sky Blues will be looking to get back to winning ways and midfielder Tom Bayliss is targeting three points.

“They are second in the league and we played them last year they were tough games, we won away and we probably should have won at home but they got a late goal.

“Look, it’s going to be really tough but Hopefully we’ll carry out our game plan and try to get three points.”

City had three points snatched away at the death last weekend at the Banks’s Stadium, after leading up until the 90th minute.

Two goals in injury time dealt a blow to the Sky Blues, but there was positive signs, with numerous chances created.

Bayliss admitted him and his team mates will need to start taking those chances, starting this weekend.

“It was a very disappointing changing room after the game (Walsall), we were comfortable in the game for whole 90 minutes and then 4 minutes of added time and there was a little bit of mayhem.

“It was very disappointing to lose in that way especially with that penalty decision against us that some of us don’t think it was a penalty but we have got to bounce back tomorrow against Luton at Ricoh.

“There was a feeling at the end of the game that we probably should have been 4-0 up before they even scored their first goal.

“We have been creating chances and it’s a bit disappointing that we did not take advantage of those chances last weekend but hopefully we’ll do it this weekend.”

Elsewhere, earlier today the news broke that winger Jodi Jones has sustained another ACL injury.

Tom has spoken with Jodi following his surgery and is hoping he will come back ‘better than ever’.

“I am gutted for Jodi.

“I spoke to him yesterday after he had his operation and I said to him you’ll be back stronger you’ve got the mental toughness.

“I am sure he’ll be back better than ever.”
