Sky Blues defender, Brandon Mason is looking forward to getting back to the Ricoh this weekend as City face Rochdale.

The defender featured last time out for the Sky Blues away at Gillingham, in which he set-up the goal for Jonson Clarke-Harris.

Talking ahead of the game, the defender is hoping to carry that momentum from last week into the clash against the Dale.

He said: “We’ve been watching them on the video yesterday and I think they're going to come out as quite direct and start the game fast.

“We've got to be ready for that challenge. As long as we perform well and do what we know we can I think will be fine.

“We've got the momentum now going forward and being at home at the Ricoh will be massive for us having our home fans.

“It’s always greater when they're there so it should be a great game.”

The defender completed his move to Coventry during the summer transfer window, following his release from Premier League side Watford.

Upon his arrival, Mason has been battling it out for a starting place at left-back alongside fellow summer signing, Junior Brown.

Brandon admitted he is enjoying the competition for a starting place and is also learning from Junior in training.

“When I heard the news about leaving Watford I was in contact with Coventry quite quickly.

“When I heard about the interest I spoke to a few players who had been here before and they all said good things, knowing the club's history of bringing through young players and developing it was appealing for me, it made the decision quite easy.

“Coming in my first day, I had a conversation with the gaffer and he just made it clear to me that the position is open and its up for grabs, and if I work hard the position will be mine.

“It’s a constant battle with Junior Brown which is good and competition is what your going to need for a good squad.

“He's a really good guy, a really experienced player, watching him every day in training I'm trying to learn as much as I can from him as well and take that into my game.”
