COMMUNITY: SBitC launch new female-only beginners running course!

Course begins this month at Longford Park...

4 April 2018

Sky Blues in the Community are launching a brand-new female-only beginners running course in Longford Park this April.

This course forms part of the In It Together project – designed to help and support women in Coventry become more active. Supported by funding from Sport England and Coventry’s Public Health Directorate, In It Together is proud to have worked with over 4,000 females since its launch in 2016.

With the support Run Like a Girl, Sky Blues in the Community have delivered five 8-week beginners courses at War Memorial Park since January 2017, engaging with over 850 women! This April will see the expansion of the Beginners Running Programmes to more parks across the City.

Beginners Running Programmes starting this April:

  • Monday 16th April – 7:15pm at War Memorial Park
  • Thursday 19th April – 6:30pm at Longford Park

In It Together Participant, Katie Smith, said:The programme is amazing, it develops your confidence and stamina, whilst your surrounded by an army of other like-minded women.”

Since graduating from a course that started this January, Katie has successfully become a volunteer with Sky Blues in the Community and will be helping inspire women, like herself, to join the programme and complete the running course. Katie is also a student at Coventry University, studying Graphic Design, and with this experience has volunteered her time to fantastically design our Longford Park poster.
