The 18-year old will join Barrow on a 28-day youth loan deal until 14th October and is available for their fixture at home to Torquay United tomorrow afternoon.
Thompson was part of the successful Under-18's side last season, and was named in the Sky Blues' squad for the first time in the final game of the 2016/17 campaign against Scunthorpe.
