Midfielder Devon Kelly-Evans marked a memorable week after hitting the winner against Exeter City yesterday afternoon...

In what was the 21-year old's first League start for his boyhood club, Kelly-Evans latched onto the end of a Jodi Jones pull back to smash home the Sky Blues' second.

"I enjoyed that. What a week," said Kelly-Evans.

"I turned 21 on Thursday, made my full league debut today and then scored. I am over the moon with it.

"I was a little emotional when i scored today because I have been waiting for so long, and dreaming about it for so long.

"I did not know I was starting until I got the shout towards the end of the warm-up. The adrenaline then kicks in and the excitment and nerves. I felt bad for Beavon but it gave me the opportunity and I am so happy that I took my chance.

"You have to prepare for every game properly, no matter what, and that put me in good sted for today."

An injury to Stuart Beavon in the warm-up presented Kelly-Evans with the opportunity from the start, after recent cameo performances against both Carlisle United and Cambridge United recentley.

"Fitness levels are certainly different compared to the under-23s and I was cramping up a lot at the end but I told myself that I would battle to stay on the pitch and I got my reward.

"The first half was a tight game. They defended well. In the second half the game opened up so I think that is why i came into it a little more. We moved it quicker and were more direct and that got us both goals.

"When I saw Jodi with the ball on the left I knew he was going to try and find me, so I made the run with only one thing in my mind. Great feeling. I was a little bit emotional, but that was a dream come true."

He added: "Everything was going through my mind. Just a great feeling. One that I may not have again, but it is the best moment of my life so far."
