The Sky Blues returned to winning ways at the Ricoh after a hard-fought victory against Port Vale.

City have moved up to eighth in the League Two table, just three points off second place, with yesterday's clean sheet their fourth in the opening six games.

"It was a great win for us, brilliant really. I enjoyed that really, we dug deep after a couple of disappointing results and to come back with that type of performance was good," Doyle said.

"It wasn't pretty but it shows that side to our game and that we can mix it up and another clean sheet. Jodi again was outstanding and so was his goal.

"Lee Burge was also outstanding. He is such a big presence for us, even at Chesterfield last week he came and got everythng and it was the same today, that is massive for us. It was an unbelievable save at the end as well."

Doyle reserved praise for City's matchwinner Jodi Jones after his first-half curler secured City the points in what was his fouth goa

"It's funny because we've been talking about getting into the positions and getting his body shape right because he has so much talent.

"It was evident today, the composure because it was on his right foot to be able to get it onto his left, he's got that type of delivery. I'm delighted for him, he is such a young player with so much promise and ability,"

He added: "He is only 19 but he is such a big player for us. If we're to be up around that top 7 people like Jodi are going to be important for us and hopefully he can keep improving."
