CONTRACT: Striker Jordan Ponticelli commits long-term future to the Sky Blues

22 September 2017

Jordan Ponticelli has committed his long-term future to the Sky Blues after signing a new four-year contract...

The 19-year old has signed on the dotted line until 2021, with the club holding an option to extend the deal by a further year, subject to EFL ratification.

Ponticelli burst onto the scene for the under-18's last season as they won the Professional Development League South, with the striker hitting an impressive 27 goals to finish as top scorer.

He made his first-team debut in the Carabao Cup against Blackburn Rovers last month, coming on as a 63rd minute substitute.

Manager Mark Robins said: "It's important that the club has taken this step to secure the future of Jordan.

"He has shown some real promise, scoring regularly for the Academy before stepping up and continuing that with the Development side.

"He came back for pre-season in great shape and scored a few goals. I know there is enough promise to warrant this length of contract.

"I look forward to working with him further and watching his development as he aims to break through to the senior side."
