Coventry City are delighted to announce the seven charities who will receive their backing thanks to the sponsorship of Richard Overson.
Richard Overson has agreed to sponsor the Coventry City Academy from Under 9s up to Under 14s, and Richard has kindly donated his sponsorship to promote local and national charities – and Sky Blues fans had the chance to choose which charities they are!
Nearly 800 votes were received from supporters, with the charities winning the most votes being:
National Charity:
Myeloma UK www.myeloma.org.uk
Local Charity:
Myton Hospice www.mytonhospice.org
Mercia Therapy Centre www.merciamstherapy.org.uk
Coventry Wildlife Rescue http://coventrywildliferescue.weebly.com/home.html
Georgies Gift www.georgiesgift.org
Northleigh House School www.northleigh.co.uk
Graham Fulford Charitable Trust www.psatests.org.uk
Alongside the vote, Richard has chosen two UK charities; Parkinson’s UK and Macmillan Cancer Support, two causes close to his heart. Academy Manager Rich Stevens has also nominated Macmillan Cancer Support to be one of the charities to be promoted as it is a cause close to the heart of a recent Academy player.
These two national charities will feature across the away shirts used by the Under 9’s to Under 14’s age groups
The six local charities will feature on the front of the Academy home shirts from Under 9s to Under 14s – with the other national charity, Myeloma UK, featuring on the final set of away shirts.
The logos of the charities will also feature on the Matchday scoreboard, Matchday Programme and CCFC Website. We’ll be profiling each of the charities in the coming weeks on our website too.
All of the local charities will also have the chance of one bucket collection during the 2017/18 season on a first team matchday at the Ricoh Arena too, as well as the support of the Sky Blues through the season.
Richard Overson said: “It's great to see the fans responding in numbers to help select the charities which are truly important to them. Personally, I am very pleased to be able to support these local charities as well as the CCFC Academy teams and look forward to a successful season ahead.”
Commercial Manager Tynan Scope added: “We were delighted with Richard Oversons support for the Academy and even more so when he donated the opportunity to promote local and national charities. We were overwhelmed with nominations by Sky Blue fans and it was great to be able to engage with fans in this way. We are really looking forward to working with each of the charities and raising awareness and funds for each of them.”
Well done to all the charities who have been chosen, and thank you to everyone who nominated!
