Sky Blues in the Community Football Development Centre continues to offer football development opportunities for local players.
On Sunday 24th September, the Sky Blues launched their new friendly games for U7 (school year 2) and U8 (school year 3) at Blue Coat School in Coventry. These games are run by the Sky Blues’ Player Development Coaches and create a no pressure environment.
The games simply focus on football development (not on the score). In order to do this, a number of different formats are employed – for example, if the games start to look one-sided players are challenged by either changing teams to balance them out or changing the number of players on each team.
Coaches encourage the children to enjoy playing and to be creative – giving them the confidence to try new skills or tricks without the fear of making a mistake. Games are played over 4 small periods, allowing coaches time to support the development of players and offer them specific coaching points along the way.
This opportunity is open to all players of all abilities who would like to take part in extra game-time to support the development of their skills.
