Mark Robins on the Sky Blues three points against Bristol Rovers at the Ricoh...
The Sky Blues secured back-to-back victories for the first time this season, as Mark Robins claimed his second win as City manager.
Following up from the midweek victory against Port Vale, George Thomas was on target fifteen minutes from time to ensure City go into next weekend’s game at Wembley with some momentum.
Robins Said: “I think it was deserved, it was a step forward from Tuesday again and there was bit more confidence. The work rate is there, the endeavour is there, you would like a little more quality at times but you can’t fault the effort.
“The goal was one of real quality, there are time where we were a little fortunate to get away with certain things, but Lee Burge was solid. He made one or two really good saves which were crucial because we were playing a side with real momentum as of late.
“They’ve had two promotions and work really hard for one another, you can see exactly how they’ve done it. However, I think we matched them. We’re starting to grow a little in terms of confidence and that is really good to see.”
Having previously focused on League One action, rather than the impending trip to Wembley in the Checkatrade Trophy final, Robins is looking forward to enjoying the day with two wins behind the team.
“We’ve got the showcase next week where we can go into the game and enjoy the day. The supporters are desperate to get behind everybody, and that really has been the message I’ve received since returning to the football club.
“Again, small steps. Next week will represent a different challenge, a different set of challenges. We’ll go there and try and relax as much as possible, whilst going there knowing it’s not a place you want to lose,”
He added: “We will be playing against a side that will be another step on, in my opinion. They’ve got some really good players, but we’ll be planning next week on how we approach the game.”
