"Being given the opportunity to come back was too great to resist." - Coventry City's Mark Robins

7 March 2017

City welcome the return of Mark Robins to the club as he addresses the press for the first time since the appointment...

Overseeing his second session at Ryton today, the Sky Blues boss has been speaking to the media this afternoon after securing a return to the club as first-team manager.

Robins was originally at Coventry City during the 2012/2013 season, but departed for Huddersfield in the Championship after six months in the role.

Upon his return, Robins has said he's delighted to be back, he commented: "I’ve been here before, and had a great time. I enjoyed it, and that has been well documented.

"You look at Coventry and what they nearly achieved last season, and all the positivity around the club. When I was here last time the supporters were great with me.

"It has been really tough for me to watch, what has happened this season. Given the opportunity to come back was too great to resist.

"It motivates me to want to turn it around, we've got to have unity and trust. We want to foster that over time. Key relationships need to be better, between the club, the supporters, the players, and everybody associated with the club.

"I came in on the basis that we can move ourselves forward. I need the tools to do the job, it is a big job. It is without doubt a different managerial job to any other in the country, and we need to find a way out of the current situation.

"My remit is on the pitch, I want to steer clear of the politics, but have the tools to put the best team on the pitch."
