The fixture sees the return of former Sky Blues Manager Tony Mowbray and Techinal Director Mark Venus since their departures from the club last season.
The Sky Blues defeated Portsmouth in extra-time at the same stage of the competition last season, before suffering defeat against Norwich City at Carrow Road in Round Two.
First Round matches are scheduled to take place week commencing 7 August, with ticket and travel information to be provided in due course.
Manager Mark Robins said: "“Obviously there is excitement because it’s the first fixture that we get to know about.
"There is an added spice about the tie in as much that we will be up against our former Manager, Tony Mowbray and Technical Director, Mark Venus which could capture the imagination of our supporters.
"It’s a game I am looking forward to and a competition we want to progress in.”
