Sky Blues in the Community launch adult women’s Netball sessions as part of the In it Together project in Coventry...

This project is funded by Sport England and aims to provide sport and physical activity sessions in an informal and engaging way, removing some of the barriers that prevent women taking part.

In it Together gives women an opportunity to try out a range of activities on a weekly basis. All sessions are for females only and encourage women to have fun and socialise whilst getting active together

If you have ever thought about giving Netball a go, used to play and after all those year of not playing you want to get back into it or simply want to play more, Sky Blues in the Community are offering a 10-week programme of FREE Netball sessions for women in Coventry. This for all abilities to get involved in!

What is Netball? Netball is a team sport played with 7 players on each team. The game was adapted from Basketball back in the 1890s. Games are played with raised rings at each end of a court and each team attempts to score goals by passing a ball down the court and shooting it through the ring. Players are assigned specific positions, which define their roles within the team and restrict their movement to certain areas of the court.

Why is Netball good for me? Netball is a high energy sport giving you a great workout every time (it can also be played at walking speed too). Being a team sport, it promotes working together. It can help increase your confidence and is a great way to socialise with friends and can even help you make new friends too.

What do you need to take part in Netball? All you will need is some clothing that you are comfortable being active in – we always recommend wearing trainers. You will also need a drink to keep you hydrated. All other equipment will be provided.

So, if you are interested in joining the Sky Blues in the Community 10-week Netball programme, it will be starting on Thursday 6th July, 6:45-8:15pm based at Blue Coat School in the main sports hall.

Like all of our ‘In it Together’ sessions, we allow the 15 minutes before and after the 1 hour session for socialising as our sessions aren’t just about being active but being part of a community of likeminded women.

Places on the programme will be limited, so if you’re interested, sign up by contacting Imogen Green via Telephone: 024 7678 6349 or Email: imogen.green@ccfc.co.uk

Sky Blues in the Community are running a variety of sessions for women in Coventry. Check out the In it Together Facebook Page to stay up-to-date with the activities on offer: http://ow.ly/p4Zl30cE72r
