On Thursday 6th July at 10:00am, Sky Blues in the Community in partnership with Henley College Coventry will be holding trials for 16-18 year olds for the Coventry City Football Education Programme...

Sky Blues in the Community work in partnership with two local colleges in Coventry and Warwickshire to provide students aged 16-19 an opportunity to study a full-time sports course, whilst also representing Coventry City in a professional football club colleges league.

From a football point of view, the first team players for the college represent Coventry City in the National Football Youth Development League. This is a league that is only open to college education programmes that are delivered by professional football clubs.

To represent Coventry City Football Club whilst playing in the league, the players wear the CCFC playing and training kit. The 2016/17 season saw the college teams compete against clubs such as Liverpool, Sunderland, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Birmingham. Sky Blues in the Community coaches who work with the College Academy Team are qualified UEFA B coaches and follow the Coventry City FC Academy syllabus.

From an education point of view, the education is as important as the football. Further education is a key time for students when they start to consider what they are interested in as a career. Being based at a college campus means that students receive all the support they need in a key time of their life.

The Football Education Programme also has a direct link with Sky Blues in the Community and offers learners the chance to gain valuable work experience within the sports industry.
