Sky Blues in the Community continue partnership with Coventry Blitz to run Softball sessions for adult women in Coventry as part of the ‘In it Together’ project...

This project is funded by Sport England and aims to provide sport and physical activity sessions in an informal and engaging way, removing some of the barriers that prevent women taking part.

In it Together gives women an opportunity to try out a range of activities on a weekly basis. All sessions are for females only and encourage women to have fun and socialise whilst getting active together.

One of the activities that In It Together are re-launching this year is a programme of Softball sessions. So, ladies, let’s tell you about Softball:

What is Softball? Softball is related to rounders – it’s a fun social game which is easy to learn and play. Two teams play against each other. One team will be hitting a ball with a round bat and attempting to run around four bases. The other team will be trying to catch the ball that is being hit or throwing the ball towards the bases the team is trying to reach.

Why is Softball good for you? Softball provides a great opportunity for fresh air and exercise while not being too demanding. Instead, it’s a sport that will increase agility, reactions and concentration. Best of all, however, softball encourages new friendships and team-building. Most view it as a great social activity as well as a sporting competition.

What do you need to take part in Softball? All you will need is some clothing that you are comfortable being active in – we always recommend wearing trainers. You will also need a drink to keep you hydrated. All other equipment will be provided.

This summer, Sky Blues in the Community will be running FREE women-only Softball sessions in partnership with Coventry Blitz on Thursday evenings at the War Memorial Park (6:45-8:15pm). You can come on your own or with a friend or two! To sign up to the programme, please contact Imogen Green via Telephone: 024 7678 6349 or Email: imogen.green@ccfc.co.uk
