The Sky Blues kicked-off Pre-Season with a 1-0 victory against Sutton United...

A fast-paced opening to the first Pre-Season fixture in the calendar, both sides had sights of goal in the initial exchanges.

New signing Liam O'Brien was called into action to deny a long-range Pape Gueye strike, before Kyel Reid's effort from the right was eventually deflected wide off striker Stuart Beavon.

The game hit somewhat of a lull after a bright start, with chances few and far between for both sides. Marc McNulty saw a shot saved, before Dominic Hyam denied Moses Emmanual a clear sight of goal.

Just as the half-time whistle beckoned, Emmanuel had a golden chance to put the home side ahead. He met a delivery from the right but couldn't divert his header goalwards from six-yards out.

Mark Robins named a completely different XI to that of the first half, with Rod McDonald, Peter Vincenti and Max Biamou all making their Sky Blues debuts.

The changes seemed to have an effect, with Vincenti going close just three minutes into the restart. Jodi Jones broke superbly from midfield before crossing towards the back post, but Vincenti's headed effort went narrowly wide.

The Sky Blues again came close with fifteen minutes remaining of the contest through former Sutton striker Biamou. The forward was denied by the 'keeper initially before an acrobatic effort on the rebound fell just wide.

City found the breakthrough in the 86th minute, with Trialist getting on the scoresheet. He connected onto a lovely ball from Ben Stevenson into the right channel and found the bottom corner to ensure the Sky Blues began Pre-Season with a win.
