Jordan Ponticelli scored the only goal of the game as Coventry City continued their Pre-Season preparations with a deserved win against Mickleover...
The Sky Blues started quickly and should have been ahead in the opening five minutes through striker Jordan Ponticelli. Bilal Sayoud provided the cross that saw Kyle Finn denied by a smart Nick Draper save, but on the rebound Ponticelli fired it against the crossbar from close range.
City continued to see plenty of the ball and threatened once more through Sayoud. Tom Bayliss broke well from midfield, driving past several defenders before laying it to the midfielder, but Sayoud’s curling effort was easily saved.
It was Sayoud again involved as the Sky Blues looked for an opening. The pacy wideman drove inside and fired an effort from distance, but Draper was on hand again to palm his effort to safety.
The home side had a rare sight of goal at the start of the second half after a good bit of play from Andy Dales. The striker raced onto a ball over the top of the city defence to set up Jake Scott, but he blazed an effort over from the edge.
The Sky Blues took a deserved lead just after the hour mark, as Jordan Ponticelli scored his second goal of Pre-Season. The youngster picked up the ball on the edge before firing superbly towards the far corner, leaving Draper with little chance in the Mickleover goal.
