Stuart Beavon scored his second goal of pre-season as the Sky Blues ended the Boro Tournament with a win against hosts Nuneaton Town...
The striker connected with a pinpoint Jodi Jones cross to loop a header over Tyrell Belford and into the far corner to give his side a first-half lead.
Attention now turns to Saturday, with City facing Notts County in their League Two opener.
"I thought we did well, we got in behind them quite a few times and created a few chances. I think we were disappointed not to win by a few more in the end," Beavon said.
"I was pleased to score, it's always nice to get a goal. The gaffer wants me in there abit more this year and that is one thing I want to add to my game.
"I want to get into the box more, improve my movement to create the space needed to get a few more goals."
Ahead of the League Two start, competition for places remains high, something Beavon believes is an important part of any successful side.
"It's healthy, It's good to have compitition and we're all pushing each other within the squad and whatever the gaffer goes with we'll all back it.
"I think me and Marc McNulty can play together, I think we've shown that already and between us we've got plenty of goals in us,"
He added: "We all want to go and win 7-0 every game, but it's one of those. We seem to be creating chances, there may be cause for concern if that wasn't the case.
"It was my first ninety minutes today and I felt good, I'm ready to get going now and I'm looking forward to Saturday."
