The Sky Blues opened their Pre-Season schedule with a 1-0 victory against Sutton United at Gander Green Lane...

City took the lead with just five minutes remaining, have fielded two different eleven's in each half, giving debuts to seven players.

He said: "It was an ideal workout. When we were planning pre-season we were looking to try and replicate what we would be facing in League Two and they were a really strong team.

"It's a really good standard, good quality 3G pitch and the only downside was the injury to Ryan Haynes. We'll probably lose him for a little while and may have to stay behind for our tour to Spain.

"First Pre-Season game I'm not going to nitpick too much, it was a decent performance and it was nice to finish the game with a win as well."

With nine new signings already made, the Sky Blue squad is beginning to take shape ahead of their opening League Two fixture against Notts County at the Ricoh in August.

"As soon as I took over it was my squad, and althought you inherit players they have gave me everything. It was about changing their mentality moving forward - There were some decent signs today.

"You'd hope those that were brought in will compete for the starting XI, but there is an opportunity for everybody and I pick based on what I see from now until the end of the season,"

He added: "Nobody is getting carried away, it is the first game back and it was good to get the win. Like I said, the only disappointment was Ryan Haynes' injury."
