INTERVIEW: Marc McNulty on his brace during the Sky Blues' win against MK Dons

The striker scored his third goal of Pre-Season against the Dons...

22 July 2017

A brace from Marc McNulty was the difference between the two sides as the Sky Blues continued their preseason preparations with a 2-0 win over MK Dons...

McNulty opened the scoring after fifteen minutes when he calmly put away a spot-kick won by Liam Kelly. The second however he earned himself after a brilliant run saw him brought down by Ethan Ebanks-Landell.

“It is always good to hit the back of the net but I’m probably a little over critical of myself.

“I am going away tonight thinking that I have not had enough shots and I have not scored from open play. If I am being honest I am a little disappointed in myself.

“I am hoping to bring goals, but not just that, I like to get into that number ten position and create as well.

“I know this level well. I was at Portsmouth the season before last and got double figures. This league is difficult, it’s relentless, it’s every week but I like that.”

Against MK Dons, McNulty featured for just over an hour before being replaced by Stuart Beavon.

The striker, who joined on a two-year-deal this summer, could see a clear improvement from the 3-1 defeat to Barnsley last time out.

“It was a lot better than Tuesday. I thought Tuesday was poor for ourselves and we knew that. We looked disjointed.

“Tonight, everyone knew their jobs. The gaffer has been working hard on us the last couple of days, he has gotten his point across well and that has shown tonight,”

He added: “Let’s not forget, there has been plenty of signing this summer. It does take a couple of games to get to know each other.”
