PRESS WATCH: "We don’t just want that first win, we want a series of wins." - Coventry City’s Russell Slade

The City boss has been speaking to the Coventry Observer about upcoming opponents Fleetwood Town...

Russell Slade has admitted a first win in charge of the Sky Blues will not matter if his side cannot string together a series of much needed victories.

City welcome in-form Fleetwood Town to the Ricoh Arena tomorrow afternoon, managed by Uwe Rosler. The Cod Army are currently nine unbeaten in League One, dating back to November and occupy the final play-off berth in the standings.

He said: "It’s frustrating that it’s not come before now but we don’t just want that first win, we want a series of wins. We were very close at Peterborough and at home against Bolton where perhaps we should have picked up all three points."

Slade has further commented on the impressive job his opposite number has undertaken since joining Fleetwood at the beginning of the 2016/17 season.

He added: “I’ve got a lot of time for Uwe and I get on very well with him. There is a certain stability at Fleetwood now that they’ve come through the leagues. They’ve certainly established themselves as a League One club."
