Willie Carr, who joined Coventry City as an apprentice in 1967, was born in GlasgowHe played 288 first-team games and scored 36 goals from his central midfield position. It was Carr's back flick that lifted the ball into the air for Ernie Hunt to volley into Everton's net, the 'donkey kick', which was later outlawed by the football authorities.
While at City, he made six appearances for Scotland and then spent a further seven years at Wolverhampton Wanderers where he picked up a League Cup winners' medal in 1980.
