INJURY NEWS: The City boss gives an update on the availability of his squad ahead of Checkatrade action

9 January 2017

The Sky Blues line up against Championship outfit Brighton and Hove Albion tomorrow evening...

Russell Slade is likely to be left short at the back as skipper Jordan Willis continues to nurse a hamstring problem, while new signings Nathan Clarke and Kevin Foley are ineligible.

Centre-half Jordan Turnbull is suspended after amassing two yellow cards in the competition, and the manager has suggested he'll be looking to the rest of his squad to fill the void.

New additions Callum Reilly and Stuart Beavon are both eligible, but the club must fulfil the 'full strength' policy outlined in the EFL rules.

Slade said: “We’ve got one or two niggley injuries, Willis is making good progress but is still a doubt.

“There are a couple that are cup-tied, who have played in the competition with previous clubs. Nathan Clarke, Kevin Foley have both played and Jordan Turnbull is suspended.

“We’ve got a bit of an issue defensively, and we've still got to meet the criteria, but it’ll give me an opportunity to look at some of the players who have been working hard in training.”
